Thai folk music has many subtypes the most important ones being Luk Thung, Mor Lam, Kantrum etc. Mor Lam is a form of Thai music resembling the music of Laos. Kantrum also belongs to the region of Isan but is less popular compared to Mor lam. It’s played by Cambodians unlike Morlam played by the Lao population. Its purest form is known as Cho-Kantrum which is dominted by percussion instruments and fiddles. Its more of a dance music form. Darkie is one of the most famous Kantrum singers.
